FAMILY | The Leemans

Advice for photographers: always be aware of conditions when shooting at different locations. Obvious conditions like temperature, weather, etc. but also hours of operation. I planned on meeting the Leeman family at the United States Arboretum to take some family photos, but we arrived right as it was closing for the day (at 5pm!) ... so Plan B took us back to the Hill. Which is not a bad Plan B. The east side of the Supreme Court served as our rendezvous point - I love the buildings in the background, classic Capitol Hill vibes. The classic Americana special to Washington, DC.

Speaking of Americana, how about the outfits! I'm no stylist (by any long stretch of a generous imagination), but if I was I'd probably go all denim all the time. I absolutely loved the feel of this shoot. And the girls are so bright and joyful, it was so easy to capture their exuberance, curiosity, and energy! I especially loved seeing how much they love their mom and dad, ready to bear hug and dog pile them at the slightest hint of a suggestion from the otherwise innocent bystander of a photographer...

Jonathan and Shannon and co. are joining a new church plant soon out in Cheverly closer to where they live - it will be a loss for those of us who are still on the Hill, but I'm glad we were able to spend an afternoon around the Capitol before they do! To cap it all off, we got some super fun silhouette shots with the Capitol Dome which I really really love.
