TRAVEL | Rome | Summer 2017
Almost a year ago, my mom called me and asked me if I wanted to join her on a two week trip touring Italy & Greece...as long as I was willing to be a chaperone for some kids from my high school. "Yes," I said without hesitation, "of course." The main group left from Louisville, and I flew out of Dulles International, through Charles de Gaulle, to meet them in Rome.
Our first two days were fast-paced and full of iconic sites like the Fontana di Trevi, the Pantheon, the Colosseum, the ruins of the Ancient Roman Forum, downtown Rome, and the Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti aka Piazza di Spagna aka Spanish Steps. Not to mention the picturesque sites we flew by, and the ever-present reminder of the layers (literal and figurative) of history beneath each step we took. Oh, and a lot of gelato. A whole lot of gelato. When in Rome, right?
