Podcast Highlights, January 2017

My friend Andrew and I share our podcast recommendations on Concentricity FM from a show perspective, but sometimes it is more about individual episodes. Here are some notable episodes I've listened to in January 2017.

I'm always looking for more podcasts to listen / work / run to! Share your favorite(s) with me!

Episode 244 - The Revolutionary Post  |  01.24.17  |  Website  |  Overcast
Interesting insight into the US Postal system. It is incredibly impressive we can send mail practically anywhere in the country!

Episode 238 - NBC Chimes: Behind the Scenes with the First Trademarked Sound  |  11.29.16  |  Website  |  Overcast
In the category of "strange things to have a strong favorite", NBC is the television / news network I was most drawn to aesthetically growing up. This episode covers a wonderfully diverse combination of topics: patents, history, the news industry, nostalgia, and the sticking power of the seemingly insignificant.

Hello Internet

Episode 54 - Star Wars Christmas Special  |  01.13.16  |  Website  |  Overcast
I've been slogging through the Hello Internet archive in a futile attempt to catch up to present day. CGP Grey and Brady are fun to listen to, especially when talking about Star Wars (The Force Awakens).

Song Exploder

Episode 44 - "El Dorado" by Death Cab For Cutie  |  07.20.15  |  Website  |  Overcast
Song Exploder is a new discovery. I wish I had thought of this idea (and had the connections to pull it off) first. I love the concept, and especially liked hearing the context and creation of this DCFC song. Other good episodes talk to Best Coast and CHVCHES.

FRESH AIR

'La La Land' Director Aimed To Make A Film Even Musical Skeptics Would Love  |  01.05.17  |  Website  |  Overcast
I want Terry Gross' job. I loved La La Land (the music and the movie), and enjoyed this interview.

Lin-Manuel Miranda On Disney, Mixtapes And Why He Won't Try To Top 'Hamilton'  |  01.03.17  |  Website  |  Overcast
Anything Lin deserves a shot. Take a listen, especially if you haven't heard him interviewed before.
