Podcast Highlights, August 2017
You can check out some podcast recommendations on Concentricity FM to see some shows worth subscribing to, but to supplement that, here are some notable episodes I've listened to in August 2017.
The Tony Kornheiser Show
The Ledecky's | 08.28.17 | Website | Overcast
My friend Wil introduced me to this podcast, which is really just a delivery vehicle for commentary and strong opinions from Tony Kornheiser (of Pardon the Interruption fame on ESPN). I love that it is DC-centric. This episode is an interview with Katie Ledecky and her family.
Help Me Teach the Bible
Andy Davis on Scripture Memory for Bible Teachers | 07.27.17 | Website | Overcast
Nancy Guthrie talks with Andy Davis about why Bible teachers should memorize Scripture. My friend Becky suggested this to me (likely because it speaks to my methodically-inclined approach to accomplishing tasks), and it was a challenging, encouraging 30 minutes.
The Unmade Podcast
Episode 1 - Groundhog Day | 08.22.17 | Website | Overcast
Like it or not I'm firmly in the podcast meta-world now. So of course I'm going to love a podcast about podcast ideas by one half of Hello Internet. This episode's ideas for a podcast focus on coin tossing, podcastology, cheating at book club, smell of the week, and the movie Groundhog Day.
Ask Pastor John
Our Wedding Date Is Set — Why Not Have Sex Now? | 08.14.17 | Website | Overcast
I've been surprised recently at how many people, from Christian and non-Christian backgrounds alike, seem to not be familiar with some basic principles of Biblical teaching on sex. This has been a relevant question in the lives of several of my friends who are approaching getting married in the near future.
Welcome to Macintosh
Episode 1 - Rich Corinthian Leather| 03.03.15 | Website | Overcast
I discovered this Apple-focused podcast recently and have enjoyed the relatively short episodes. The URL Mark Bramhill secured was a great acquisition. The pilot talks about the rise and fall of skeuomorphs at Apple.
This American Life
Episode 622 - Who You Gonna Call? | 08.06.17 | Website | Overcast
When everything goes wrong, one of the first things we think is, “Who do I call?” This week, stories of lucky people who have found the exact right person to ring up for help. The first act is an amazing story you shouldn't miss.
