SCENES | Mulligan & Madison | Summer 2018

Chaundre Hall-Broomfield portrays Hercules Mulligan and President James Madison in the Angelica National Tour of Hamilton, IMHO maybe the best musical of all time. As part of another collab with Teale Dvornik (aka the “Backstage Blonde”), I hung out with Dre at the Madison Library of Congress and down at the Kennedy Center (where Hamilton is playing through September 16, 2018).

One of the best aspects of Hamilton is how many of the actors play different roles in the first and second act. It is so impressive to see one guy take on Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, John Laurens and Philip Hamilton, or in Dre’s case, both the boisterous Hercules Mulligan and coughing James Madison. And these photos show a bit of both - we were able to check out the Madison memorial hall, read the quotes and pay respects, but you can also clearly see the energy and enthusiasm he brings to Mulligan every night in the show.

I loved getting to take these pictures, and even see Dre in the show this week! Go listen to the Hamilton soundtrack, see the show if you can (this company heads to Boston next!), and don’t forget to follow Teale - these pictures are just a preview of the interview with Dre she’ll be sharing on her blog in the near future!
